mostly for its wine production, the La rioja region does offer some
angling. All regions of Spain require a license for coarse and game
fishing. The national license costs 90 euros. In
addition, a regional license will be required. These vary in
price from region to region and start at around 60 euros.
Spain's largest river, the Ebro flows through the region of La Rioja
offering carp and barbel this part of the Ebro does not have the
same quality of angling as the lower stretches in the
Aragon region . There are
however some beautiful mountain rivers including the Najerilla and
the Iregua which offer excellent brown trout.
