Galician wine has
been gaining in popularity over the past few years. The
Galician white wine Ribiero is probably the best wine available for
accompanying the seafood specialties of the area. There are five
wine producing regions in Galicia, Monterrei, Riax Baixas, Sacra,
Ribiero and Valdeorras these areas are all in the South of the
region.

The wines are all
made from the abanno grape which produce a white wine with a slight
green/yellow tint. The wines are crisp and dry with a slight
acidity. Ribiero is the best known of the Galicean wines.
Drunk young, it has a fresh floral flavour. Ribiero also
produces red wine, which again is best drunk young. It used to
be said that the wines of Galicia didn't travel well but Ribiero is
now widely available in many areas of Spain
