WALKING HOLIDAYS IN SPAIN

Walking holidays in Spain are becoming increasingly popular. Of all the  regions of Spain, perhaps the best walks can be found in Galicia.  The area is steeped in ancient history and the rugged coastline with long white sandy beaches and isolated fishing villages make it ideal walking country.

EL CAMINO DE SANTIAGO

What is probably the most famous walk in Europe, the pilgrims route, ends in the city of Santiago de Compostela, the capital of Galicia so what better place for a walking holiday.

There are some companies who specialise in walking holidays in Galicia. Galicia is well off the beaten tourist track and the weather is mild but not like the scorching costas further south.  There are ancient ruins which are completely unspoiled by crowds of sightseers.  Some of the earliest and most impressive cave paintings in Europe have been discovered in Galicia.  All this with the prospect of gourmet seafood at the end of a days walk is too good to miss.
