With its lakes rivers and lagoons, Extremadura has a good variety of angling but because of the remoteness of the area and the lack of an international airport, this has never been a commercially viable region for angling holidays.  To reach the rivers and lakes of the area, a car is essential.   For keen anglers living in Spain, Extremadura is well worth a visit.  There are huge carp and tench in the lakes and good trout fishing in the mountain rivers.  As with other parts of Spain, a license is required in Extremadura and special permission may also be needed for some of the lakes and rivers but all well worth the effort.
