POBLET

The Santa Maria monastery at Poblet near Barcelona, is the burial place of Kings.  It is a fitting final resting place, an oasis of serenity and calm. It was included in UNESCO's world heritage list in 1991.  Inside the monastery stands a 12th century church. The monastery itself was built between the 12th and 15th centuries. During the Carlist war the monastery was torched and restoration work began in 1930.  The monastery is now open to tourists.
