L'Escala is a
popular resort with Spanish tourists. Tourism is gradually replacing
the traditional fishing industry as the town's major source of
income. Fishing is still an important part of the town's economy
with sardines and anchovies being the primary catches. The
town has managed to retain much of its village atmosphere with
friendly locals blending well with the yearly tourist influx.
