Ruidera Spain is a unique area of Castillia La Mancha far removed from the hot dry capital city of Toledo and the surrounding countryside. This part of La Mancha is a national park famous for the beautiful chain of fourteen lagoons (las lagunas de
Ruidera) which straddle the area. Ruidera itself is a small village with a population of approx 600. Ruidera has a long history dating back to before the time of the Romans and even as far back as the iron age. There are rivers and streams connecting the lagoons together with some beautiful
waterfalls. If you enjoy fishing, there is some fantastic angling in the lagoons. Ruidera is also a bird spotters paradise, this is a fantastic area for a back to nature holidayy, surrounding the lagoons are some wonderful forests. There are Flamingos, Lapwings, Golden Orioles, Eagle owls, Ospreys and even Golden eagles to be found. Kingfishers, Woodpeckers, Azure winged magpies and hoopoe
are common in this area.
