An ancient village
situated in the valley of Liébana. Set in a beautiful mountain
region Potes would be an ideal base for walking ,cycling and bird
spotting. The river Bullon winds its way through the village with
bridges spanning it in various places. Close to Potes, is the
monastery of Toreibo de Liébana a place of pilgrimage which is
supposed to contain fragments of the cross of Christ. Potes is
the centre of Cantabria's only wine growing region, having its own
sub climate. The spirit Orujo is made in the Potes district
and the area also produces cherries and walnuts . Potes is home to
Cantabria's largest livestock fair which take place every year on
Nov 2nd.
