The Canaries are a Spanish owned group of volcanic islands situated in the Atlantic ocean  off the west coast of Africa.  They have an all year round mild climate and are very popular with tourists from all over Europe.  The largest and most popular of the islands is Tenerife and the smallest is Hierro.  Although the canaries are part of Spain and therefore the EU tax is less than other EU countries
