JAMEOS DEL AGUA

A volcanic eruption of the Monte Corona volcano formed the caves of Jameos del Agua.  The caves were landscaped by Cesar Manrique between 1965 and 1968 and converted into a subterranean grotto.  Soft lighting illuminates the interior of the caves which contain a restaurant, night club and swimming pool.  Steps lead to an underground seawater lagoon where rare blind white crabs glow gently in the dark.
