Gran Canaria is the most popular of the Canary Islands, it is visited by 1.5 million tourists every year. The islands capital is Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the largest city in the Canary Islands.  The scenery of Gran Canaria is varied and mostly rugged with beautiful views.  The three main resorts on Gran Canaria are Maspalomas, which is one of the largest resorts in Spain, Puerto de Mogan and Puerto Rico  Like Tenerife, the climate of the island has a north south split, the south being arrid while the north is cloudier and more tropical.  Gran Canaria is a year round resort having mild temperatures in winter and summer.
