Fornalutx is claimed to be the
prettiest village in Majorca. It is situated in a valley with
a backdrop of mountains in the northwest of the island near Soller.
Narrow cobbled streets are lined with lovely rustic houses many
displaying plants and flowers. There is a small square which
is home to the village church. The square is lined with bars
and restaurants and is a fantastic place to stop for a cold drink.
In 1983 the Majorcan tourist board awarded the village a silver
plaque in appreciation of the town's efforts to maintain its
quality. On September 8th the town celebrates its patron saint with
a fiesta. There are one or two hotels in the village but this
isn't really a tourist resort, more a beautiful place to visit and
relax in.
