CALA MILLOR

Cala Millor is a holiday resort on the north east coast of Majorca it is a fairly small family resort with a pleasant town centre and a long promenade linking it to the harbour resort of Cala Bona a couple of miles up the coast.  There are plenty of apartments to rent and some good hotels.  A popular evening stroll is the promenade walk.  If you get tired there are plenty of bars where you can stop and refresh yourself. Cala Millor is an ideal family holiday resort.  Plenty to do for mum and dad and the kids. Cala Millor makes an ideal base for exploring the island, you can rent bicycles for a day and cycle up the coast to the Costa de Los Pinos, a beautiful area with many fantastic villas, If you do go, stop at Lola's bar opposite the  Europa Hotel and have the chicken and chips which is done on a rotisserie with fantastic herbs. In the evening, just stroll down the promenade and watch the fishing boats being prepared for the evening catch in Cala Bona.   The resort of Cala Bona is the ideal place for an inexpensive evening meal at one of the restaurants overlooking the harbour.  We went every year to this area when the kids were young and have some very fond memories of our time there. That was back in the eighties but my sister who once lived there, went back last year and told me it was exactly the same.  We have decided that we will definitely go back and re-live some of our fantastic experiences.  Cala Millor is only a short drive to Alcudia and the up market resort of Puerto Pollensa.  When we first visited Cala Millor, I hired a car for the first time.  To start off with it was a bit nerve racking but I soon got used to it and now I always hire a car when I go to Majorca.  It really is the best way to explore the island.  Most of the roads are fairly quiet and being so small you can drive from one side to the other in a few hours.   After experimenting with various car rental companies, I found the best one is easyCar

Hotel Transfers

Getting to your hotel or apartment from Palma airport can be expensive, nowadays a taxi will set you back about 70/80 euros one way which is quite a hefty chunk out of your spends.  If you're anything like me, you'd rather be spending it on a couple of nice meals. Luckily there is an alternative, Resorthoppa have a private shuttle bus service from the airport to your hotel or apartment in Cala Millor for only £11.13 each (checked Sept 2008).  If you'd like to see what other people think of the Resorthoppa service, you can read some testimonials here.
