CALA BONA

Cala Bona is a small family resort in the northeast of the island.  Cala Bona is separated from its slightly larger neighbour Cala Millor by a long promenade.  Cala Bona was originally a small fishing village and the harbour is still festooned with nets and other fishing paraphernalia.  Cala Bona has a friendly family atmosphere and is very popular with visitors from Holland, Germany and the UK.  There are some decent hotels catering for most tastes and plenty of apartments to rent.  Lining the harbour are bars and restaurants.  The harbour is where most holidaymakers  congregate in the evening.  This is when the area comes to life and nothing could be nicer than a meal with a bottle of wine, looking out at the fishing boats being readied for the nights catch.  People return to Cala Bona year after year and many friendships are struck up with the bar and restaurant owners.  My sister was married to the owner of a hotel in Cala Bona many years ago and we spent a lot of happy holidays there. The kids loved it so much that now they're grown up they say it would be great to go back.  My sister went back to see some old friends a couple of years ago and told me it was exactly the same as twenty years ago.  If you fancy  spending a holiday in Cala Bona I can thoroughly recommend it

CAN YOU REALLY SAVE MONEY?

We did a lot of research before using the Hotels Combined search engine on our website.  We wanted to know if it could really save money, so we checked hotels in Benidorm which is Spain's most popular resort.  What we found was pretty amazing. Had we been booking, we could have save a lot of money.  Many hotels showed prices from three or four different booking agents and the price difference on some was staggering. For example, the Agir Hotel was priced from 118 to 256 euros per night a massive 138 euros per night difference for the same room in the same hotel.  Lots of hotels had differences up to 60 euros a night.

Hotel Transfers

Getting to your hotel or apartment from Palma airport can be expensive, nowadays a taxi will set you back about 70/80 euros one way which is quite a hefty chunk out of your spends.  If you're anything like me, you'd rather be spending it on a couple of nice meals. Luckily there is an alternative, Resorthoppa have a private shuttle bus service from the airport to your hotel or apartment in Cala Bona for only £11.13 each (checked Sept 2008).  If you'd like to see what other people think of the Resorthoppa service, you can read some testimonials here.
