IBIZA TOWN

Ibiza Town, the island's capital  has an interesting history, it can be traced back to the time of the Carthiginians in 654 BC.  Since then, the island has been invaded by the Romans, Byzantines, Moors and the Catalans. The old town is well worth visiting.  A maze of narrow streets flanked by whitewashed buildings wind their way up to the church and old fortifications at the top.  From here you can take in the magnificent views of the harbour.  At night, during the summer months, the old town becomes a carnival of extroverts parading around in all manner of costumes.  To observe this spectacle, a seat in one of the bars is a must.  To get a break from the non stop entertainment try one of the many restaurants available.  The port area is also a great place to sample the hustle and bustle of the capital.  You can catch a ferry to the island of Formentera from the port.  With the advent of the budget airlines to Ibiza airport, Ibiza has become a weekend city break destination.  Flights and hotels can easily be booked online at prices which won't break the bank .  To help you choose a hotel that fits the bill, try the Hotels Combined search engine which checks prices from all the major online hotel agencies in a couple of minutes, and displays them in an easy to read format.
