COSTA VERDE

With over 200 sandy beaches, the Costa Verde would make a great alternative holiday to the baking Costas of Valencia and Andalucia.  The weather can be a little unpredictable but most of the summer months are sunny and warm. The beaches are flanked by a backdrop of cliffs and further into the background, the mountains of the Picos de Europa.  This area is largely undiscovered by tourists outside Spain and will give you a taste of the real unspoiled Spanish seaside. There are a number of companies now specialising in holidays to Northern Spain.  Llanes is probably the most popular of the beach resorts on the Costa Verde but don't expect the hustle and bustle of the resorts further south.  A holiday on this coast is a voyage of discovery.  Rent a car and explore some of the many authentic  fishing villages the area has to offer.  Sample the excellent seafood dishes which are typical of the area and generally chill out and relax.
