VALDERROBRES

Close to the border with Catalonia lies the quaint riverside town of Valderrobres. The shallow Rio Matarrana abounds with trout.  The town was  home to Arogonese royalty and is dominated by a  restored castle which was once a palace.   In front of the castle is an old Gothic church, the Iglesiade Santa Maria la Mayor which has a huge rose window.  The town hall stands in a beautiful arcaded plaza which was completed at the end of the 16th century.
