This ancient Moorish town was home
to Mudejar craftsmen. These craftsmen were Moors allowed to
stay after the re conquest of Spain because of their amazing
building skills. The town still has some fine examples of
Mudejar architecture including the cathedral with turreted finials
and pierced brickwork. There are also Moorish cloisters with Gothic
tombs. In the upper part of the town on the opposite bank of
the river are more churches in typical Mudejar style which can be
found in the narrow cobbled streets.
