The Ordesa national park in the Aragon region is one of the most striking areas of the Spanish Pyrenees. The national park contains four glacial canyons, the Ordesa, Anísclo, Pienta and Escuain valleys. These valleys have been carved through the natural limestone producing spectacular cliffs and caverns.  This area is one of the best walking areas in Spain.  There are mountain streams, forests and an abundance of wild flowers birds and animals, including otters, mountain goats and the unique Ordesa Ibex which is now a protected species. Walking holidays in this area of the Pyrenees are becoming increasingly popular.  As well as walking, you can explore the area on horseback with a guided trekking holiday.  In the winter the area can become inaccessible with snow blocking many of the mountain passes. Cross country skiing is one way of getting around and there are a few companies specialising in cross country skiing holidays.
