Spain's largest river The Ebro flows through the region of Aragon,
providing some of the best angling anywhere. There are huge
carp and catfish in some parts of the Ebro and a small industry has
built up based around angling holidays to the area. There are
companies offering all inclusive holidays including guides,
transport and accommodation , in fact everything you need for a
fantastic fishing holiday. Licenses and permits are required
for angling in most regions of Spain. Organising an angling
holiday through a specialist company removes the hassle of trying to
obtain the correct paperwork needed. If you are seasoned
angler used to the vagaries of the British weather, to sit on the
river bank dressed only in shorts and a t shirt is sheer joy.
Catfish over 200lbs have been caught in the Ebro and carp of 40lb
plus are not uncommon.
The Pyrenees
area of Aragon with it's mountain rivers and streams, also
offers good angling, mostly for brown trout. In 2003,
the fly fishing world cup was held in this area. Renting a car
is essential to gain access to some of the more remote
locations. Again, a license is required, which can be
purchased locally. Angling holidays on the river Ebro are now
extremely popular so booking early is advisable. Don't forget
to take your camera and if you catch one of the reported
monsters, you can email it to us and we will try and put it on
this page. Let us know whereabouts it was caught and the
weight.
