Angling holidays
in Spain are becoming increasingly popular. Andalucia has some
excellent angling, notably the sea fishing on the Costa del
Sol. There are companies specialising in angling
holidays and deep sea fishing from boats is probably the most
popular. Many varieties of fish can be caught including
swordfish, merlin and tuna. Most of these species are
caught from boats and not from the shore. Tunny or small
tuna are plentiful towards July and boat fishing with lures is
the favourite method. The southwest of the Andalucian
coastline where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean is an
excellent area for angling. Tuna, swordfish, sea bream
mackerel and bass are just a few of the species caught off
this coast.

Angling holidays
in Andalucia are not confined to the coast, course and trout
fishing is availble in the mountain streams and rivers.
The rio frio (cold river) between Malaga and Granada is an
excellent brown trout river with fish of over 3lbs being
reported. There are also a number of reservoirs where
you can catch pike and black bass. In all there are
sixty four fishing reserves in the Sierra Nevada mountain
region. As with most areas of Spain, fishing permits are
required.
