Marbella is an up market
resort on the Costa del Sol. The long promenade is
lined with restaurants apartment blocks and palm trees.
The luxurious villas in the hills above the town are home to
film stars and the rich and famous. The exclusive port
of
Puerto Banus is just a walk
along the "golden mile" which separates the two. The
shops and bars in the centre of the town show the affluence
of the area, Marbella is renowned for its wealth .
For a week in Marbella, take plenty spending money, eating
out can be very expensive. The weather in the area is
mild throughout the year and can reach as high as 40c in
July and August. Marbella would make an excellent base
for exploring other towns and villages along the coast and
inland, the mountain road to Ronda makes a nice trip.
Malaga airport is only about forty minutes drive up the
coast. Marbella is an excellent centre for golfing
holidays with many top class
golf clubs
in the area. In the early seventies. Prince Fahd was a
frequent visitor to the Costa del Sol, he traveled with a
retinue of over a a thousand helpers, spending a lot of
money in the process. A few years ago, a massive
scandal erupted when it was found that local government
officials had been accepting bribes for illegal
developments. There is a lot of excess in Marbella as
