Malaga is the hub for holidaymakers from all over Europe
traveling to the Costa del Sol. Malaga airport is home to the

tourist. The Picasso museum opened in 2003 has proved to

culture 2016 will if successful, further enhance the city's
popularity. Malaga could quite rightly class itself as the capital of
the Costa del Sol it is similar in size and nature to its Costa Blanca
counterpart Alicante. Malaga is steeped in history, there are
interesting remains to explore notably the Roman theatre and the
Alcazaba palace.
The
construction of Malaga cathedral started in the 16th century and is
still ongoing. It was sited on the remains of a muslim mosque
and is a mix of renaissance and gothic styles. Malaga was name
Malaka by the first invaders, the Phoenicians when they landed
on the coast of Andalucia from Tyre in 800bc. Since then, the
area has been invaded by the Romans, Moors, Berbers and Visigoths.
Despite its history, Malaga has a thriving cafe society with bars,
restaurants, theatres a bullring and much more. Malaga still has
a working port. The well laid out promenade is lined with palm
trees and is a popular place for an evening stroll. Malaga is an
ideal location for exploring the Costa del Sol and other areas of
