Vinaros
The coastal resort of
Vinarós lies at the more Northerly end of the Cosat Azahar.
It has a long coastline consisting of unspoilt coves.
Opposite the town is the long sandy Forti beach. The
resort is very popular with Spanish tourists and is now
starting to open up to other Europeans as Valencia airport
becomes a budget airline destination. Although
Valencia is approx 120 kms away from Vinarós this is
considered an acceptable driving distance for most tourists
wanting to find somewhere a bit different than the more
Southerly costa blanca resorts. Vinarós celebrates it's
annual "festival of prawns" as an acknowledgement of the
famous Vinarós prawns which are landed daily. The
prawns which are supposed to be some of the best in Spain
are snapped up by the town's restaurants as soon as they
have been landed.
