Being Spain's premiere
tourist destination there are no shortages of things to do
on the Costa Blanca. The Costa Blanca coastline has
many pristine blue flag beaches and the resorts offer a
variety of entertainment to suit most tastes. For
history buffs, there are ancient towns and villages and for
walkers, the Costa Blanca countryside has miles of footpaths
and mountain villages to explore.
Benidorm
The largest resort on the
Costa Blanca is
Benidorm.
Benidorm
is home to two new theme parks, Terra Mitica, and Terra
Natura which are fantastic for the kids and have enough to
keep the adults happy as well. Millions of euros have
been spent to make Terra Mitica one of the largest
entertainment venues in Spain. Every year new rides
are added and in addition to the rides, there is a themed
village featuring restaurants from around the world, a
theatre with a daily show and a large water feature with
boat rides. Terra Natura which is about a mile from
Terra Mitica is more of a zoo but also contains a water
park.
The well established water
park Aqualandia remains one of
Benidorm's
main attractions with lots of scary looking slides.
There are also smaller pools for younger children and a
picinic area. Next door to Aqualandia is the dolphin
and parrot park Mundomar. For nightlife, try the
Benidorm palace where you can enjoy a top class cabaret
evening with an excellent three course meal included in the
price. Benidorm is awash with bars nightclubs and
restaurants, many offer live acts varying from rock bands to
comedians and magicians.
A lot of hotels have
evening entertainment and many welcome people who aren't
staying. The hotels benefit from the extra drink sales
and the tourists can take advantage of the free shows.
Inland
Inland, the roads are
quiet and you can see some spectacular scenery. A
drive through the
Jalon valley,
stopping off at some of the little villages is a must.
If you're fortunate enough to be in the area during early
spring, the whole valley is covered in cherry and almond
blossom. A really interesting place to include
in a day out is
Guadalest.
Guadalest
in Spanish means "eagle's nest" If you manage to go,
you'll see why.

Resorts
All the resorts have
something different to offer and its well worth hiring a car
for a couple of days to explore some other areas.
North of
Benidorm
are the coastal towns of
Calpe,
Moraira,
Denia and
Javea
which are all well worth a visit. Some other resorts
which are within easy driving distance of
Benidorm
are
La Cala de Finestrat
with its shallow bay,
Villajoyosa
a Spanish town with a large fishing port and a long
promenade and
El Campello,
a small resort with a nice promenade lined with restaurants
and a marina.
Many people come to the
area to switch off and relax on the beach but for the more
energetic, there is a huge choice of alternative sporting
activity to choose from including golfing, go karts,
horse riding, para gliding, jeep safari's, boat trips and
angling excursions.
