Polop
About 10kms inland from
Benidorm is the town of Polop. It is built on a hillside and
is surrounded by acres of orange groves. Mountains
form a backdrop to the town which is dominated by the
church. Polop is famous locally for its spring water
which it is claimed can cure all sorts of illnesses.
Polop is inhabited mainly by Spaniards and very few tourists
visit the town. A walk up to the church in Polop is
interesting as it has a miniature version of the steps of
the cross with small glass display cases containing a
variety of artifacts. The main road from La Nucia to
Polop was renovated a few years ago with a lovely paved area
with seats overlooking the town.
