The fishing village of
Moraira approx 10 kms north of
Calpe has steadily transformed itself into an up
market cafe society resort over the past twenty
years. The marina now bustles with private yachts
although the fishing port still remains and the fish auction
market on the quayside is a great place for a visit.
The centre is small but contains a wide assortment of classy
shops bars and restaurants. The area surrounding the
town is quite hilly with a large number of well established
villas and fairly low rise apartment blocks. Moraira
is a favourite holiday resort for Spanish people and there
are a large assortment of other, mostly European visitors
and second home owners.
