SPANISH WEBCAMS
This is a live view of the bay of La Cala de Finestrat which is approx 3 miles from Benidorm. The picture updates every thirty seconds. The view may change during the day. The camera is switched on between 8am and 8.30pm. This will
be extended as the evenings get longer. Webcams are a great way to discover what's going on around the world. From beaches to cities, with the wide availability of online webcams, we can find out what the weather is, how much traffic is on the road in a particular place and even try to spot friends and family on
holiday. My webcam in La Cala de Finestrat is situated on the balcony overlooking the Mediterranean. The view is spectacular and by putting a webcam on the site, I hope you can get some idea of how lucky I am to have these fantastic views. This is my first attempt at putting a webcam on my site, and
it took a while to figure out how to do it. Obviously, the main criteria is having something suitable to view. I love my view out onto the Med and I figured if I enjoy it, other people will too. The next thing was trying to make sure that people could see it, which meant trying to get it listed in the various webcam sites. Because some
webcam listing sites have links to other sites with dubious content, my service provider often decides that it won't let me view them and puts a screen up telling me that the page has been blocked.

This is very frustrating because most of these webcam listing sites have the majority of their links going to sites like mine, showing scenery, cities etc but because they see the word ( I was going to type it but then realised they might
block mine as well) but you get the gist. I eventually managed to submit the webcam to some good sites and hey presto my webcam got into the weeks top ten on earthcam which sent lots of visitors to this page.
If the webcam proves popular, I'll try to get one with a decent zoom facility for better shots of the beach. At the moment I'm using a Philips SPC1000NC which is great for the wide views but the zoom facility degrades the picture too much so I haven't been
using it. The weather hasn't been good, I'm hoping that soon it will pick up and we'll start getting lots of people on the beach. I will alter the view a few times during the day, so that you can get a good idea of what the area is like. For anyone interested, the camera is pointing between the
south and southwest, depending which view I've selected. Later in the afternoon, when the sun is pointing at the camera, I sometimes turn it around and point it at the pool. The pool view also shows the rocks and the Med just beyond our car park. If you like Spain, there are a number of webcams
in the Costa Blanca, the Costa del Sol and Majorca. If you want to read about La Cala de Finestrat click here. |
