FINESTRAT
Finestrat is a town,
some of which is perched on a cliff edge. It is
situated approx 5kms inland from Benidorm.
Finestrat has a fairly high population of ex pats who
bought at the time property prices were a lot lower
than the costal resorts and many can be found
whiling away a few hours at the popular Molli 2 bar on
the main road.
Finestrat has
experienced something of a boom over the past four
years, with revenue from La Cala de Finestrat and
numerous building projects in the area, swelling the
coffers of the Finestrat town hall. There is a
new children's play area with an extravagant bronze
hand which alone probably cost thousands of euros.
The road in to the town has been widened and is now
lined with expensive lighting. There is also a
large sports complex and new housing developments.
Finestrat is directly beneath the Puig Campana
mountain. This mountain which overlooks the
coast and Benidorm has a large artificial looking
chunk missing from the ridge. The fable is that
a giant broke it off and threw it into the sea,
forming what is now Benidorm island. If you've
rented a car for your stay, Finestrat would be worth a
visit. The surrounding countryside is very
peaceful and a good place for a drive.
