Benicassim is a resort town with long sandy beaches, flanked by a promenade overlooked by holiday apartments and hotels.  The town is shielded by a backdrop of mountains.  In recent years, Benicassim has become famous for its annual rock festival which started in 1995 and now attracts over 45,000 visitors to the town. This figure is likely to swell, with the advent of cheap budget flights to Valencia airport.  As the festival grows yearly, more major acts appear.  As prices at uk festivals continue to go through the roof and the seemingly never ending rain and mud dampen the spirits, Benicassim makes an affordable alternative, the weather is usually excellent which contributes to a  great atmosphere.

The 2008 line up now includes  Leonard Cohen, Richard Hawley and Roisin Murphy in addition to the already announced My Bloody Valentine, Babyshambles, The Rumble Strips, Jose Gonzalez and  more. The festival runs between the 19th and 22nd July which is the height of the holidays season.
