Goodbye Amancio's

The old Edificio Amfora in La Cala de Finestrat which was where the popular Amancio's Family restaurant stood has finally been demolished.  For over 30 years this blot on the landscape in La Cala spoilt what was a picturesque bay.  Yesterday April 14th 2010 a monster machine trundled across the beach and effectively crunched its way through the ruin.  The machine which ran off hydraulic power looked for all the world like some modern day prehistoric monster and watching it in operation was awesome.  The morning started off with a large crowd gathering around the bay, followed by a film crew and a host of photographers.  Around 11am the monster was powered up and it quickly became apparent that this would be a mere snack by 8pm all that was left was a pile of rubble.
